According to Hana Shaf-Brener, there were five Faktor families in Shkud.

1) Abba Faktor, aged 40, a widower, was a merchant who was studying to become a rabbi. Abba had a seventeen-year-old son, Leib. Golda, age 65, Abba’s mother, appears to have lived with her son and grandson.

“Jews in the Memory of Skuodas People” (see link on this page) lists Golda Faktor under Colonial Trading (coffee, tea, tobacco, and other ‘colonial’ products) in its business directory; Golda’s store was located on Laisves str. no. 59 (19).

According to Jewish Gen’s Lithuania Deaths database, Abel Faktor, son of Leib Zelig and Golde, born in 1888, died in Skuodas in 1939 (aged about 51). Presumably Abel was Abba’s brother, and Leib Zelig was therefore Abba’s father. According to Jewish Gen’s Lithuania Marriages database, Abel, born 1888, was married in 1933 to Fania Rastovski, daughter of Motel and Elke (nee Kruskol).

Yad Vashem provides the following information on Abba’s son (Leib? Another son?):

Arieh Faktor was born in Lithuania to Aba. Prior to WWII he lived in Lithuania. During the war he was in Lithuania.

Arieh was murdered in the Shoah.

This information is based on a Page of Testimony submitted by his relative, a Shoah survivor. http://db.yadvashem.org/names/nameDetails.html?itemId=3619487&language=en

2) Shloime Faktor, Abba’s brother, lived with his wife Dina, 50, and his 45-year-old sister (whose name Shaf-Brener does not give). According to the Lithuania Marriages database, Shloime, born about 1894 to Leib Zelik and Golde (nee Grinker), married Dvora Shifra Jozef, daughter of Jozef and Ester Mire (nee Josef) in Kretinga in 1939. Lina Faktor, born 1897, Abel and Shloime’s sister, married Faivel Girsh Krubelnik in 1932. Could Lina be the sister who was living with Shloime and Dina?

3) Avraham Ber Faktor, 60, who ran a grocery store, was married to Perl (nee Shapiro), 55. They had a 25-year-old son, Yosef,  who was studying to be a pharmacist, and a 29-year-old married daughter, Feiga (Tsipora), who lived with her husband in Skaudvile. Jewish Gen’s Lithuania Marriages database records the marriage of Feige Faktor, 25, daughter of Abram Ber and Pere Leya (nee Shapira) to Izrael Calel Braude of Skaudvile in 1938.

Jewish Gen’s Lithuania Tax and Voters Lists database lists Abram Ber Faktor, son of Leyb, as a grocer in 1914. “Jews in the Memory of Skuodas People” (see link on this page) identifies Abrom Faktor as as a colonial trader (dealing in coffee, tea, tobacco, and other ‘colonial’ products); his shop was Ylakiu str. no. 5 (19).

According to the Lithuania Internal Passports database, Mausha Gershon Faktor, born in 1914 to Abraham Ber, applied for a foreign passport in 1938. According to Kehilat Shkud, Gershon Faktor was active in the youth group Betar (21) and was also a member of the Israel National Fund before his emigration to Israel (15); see the photo below.

4) Rachel Rivke Faktor, presumably a widow, had come to Shkud from Mosedis. She lived with her 48-year-old married son, Mordechai, a shoemaker, and Mordechai’s wife, Leah (nee Shtarkman), 45. Mordechai and Leah’s children were Sarah, 17; Shmuel, 15; Moshe, 12; Feigele, 11; Efraim, 10; and Mayer Heynich, 6. Sometime before 1941, the family moved from Shkud to Sauliai.

Jewish Gen’s Lithuania Marriages database records the 1923 marriage of Motel Faktor, born 1895, son of Noakh and Yola of Skuodas, to Lina Starkman, born about 1902 to Shmuel and Mikhle of Mosedis.
